This website is operated by Forced Joy Project (“Forced Joy Project,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Forced Joy Project offers this website, including all information, services, products, programs, retreats, memberships, digital content, and tools available from this site (collectively, the “Service”), conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies, and notices stated here.
By visiting our site and/or purchasing, registering for, or participating in any product, service, retreat, event, or membership offered by Forced Joy Project, including but not limited to Widows in the Wild retreats, Joy Scout Club membership, Book of Stories, workshops, and digital offerings, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
If you do not agree to all terms and conditions, you may not access the website or use the Services.
SECTION 1 – GENERAL TERMS
You must be at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence to use this site or participate in our Services.
You agree not to use our Services for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose, and you may not violate any laws in your jurisdiction.
We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove access to any Service at our sole discretion.
SECTION 2 – ONLINE PRODUCTS, DIGITAL CONTENT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All content provided through Forced Joy Project—including written materials, videos, prompts, workshops, community discussions, and downloadable resources—is for personal, non-commercial use only.
You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, share, or exploit any portion of the Service without express written permission.
All intellectual property remains the sole property of Forced Joy Project unless otherwise stated.
SECTION 3 – MEMBERSHIPS (JOY SCOUT CLUB & ONLINE COMMUNITIES)
By purchasing or joining an online membership (including Joy Scout Club), you acknowledge:
Membership content is educational and supportive, not therapy, counseling, or medical treatment
Participation is voluntary and at your own discretion
Community spaces require respectful behavior; harassment, hate speech, or harmful conduct will result in immediate removal without refund
Membership fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to modify, pause, or discontinue membership offerings at any time.
SECTION 4 – RETREATS, EVENTS & IN-PERSON EXPERIENCES
Participation in retreats and events involves physical activity, travel, and inherent risk, including but not limited to hiking, outdoor activities, transportation, and shared accommodations.
By registering for a retreat, you acknowledge and agree that:
You are physically capable of participating in the activities described
You voluntarily assume all risks associated with travel and physical activity
Forced Joy Project is not responsible for injuries, illness, accidents, delays, weather conditions, or acts beyond our control
You are responsible for:
Obtaining appropriate travel insurance
Disclosing relevant medical conditions
Following all safety guidelines provided
Forced Joy Project reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior compromises group safety or wellbeing, without refund.
SECTION 5 – PAYMENTS, CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
All payments, deposits, and fees are subject to the specific cancellation and refund policies outlined at the time of purchase or registration.
Unless otherwise stated:
Deposits are non-refundable
Retreat cancellations within a specified window may result in partial or no refund
Membership fees are non-refundable
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule events due to circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, refunds or credits will be issued at our discretion.
SECTION 6 – BOOK OF STORIES (CUSTOM PRODUCTS)
Book of Stories is a custom, collaborative storytelling product.
By purchasing, you acknowledge:
Content is submitted by third parties and not fact-checked or edited for accuracy
Forced Joy Project is not liable for the content of submitted stories
Refunds are limited due to the custom nature of the product
If an order is canceled, a maximum refund of 50% of the purchase price may be issued, at our discretion.
Our liability is limited to the cost of the book.
SECTION 7 – DISCLAIMER: NOT THERAPY OR MEDICAL CARE
Forced Joy Project does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic services.
Participation in any Service—including retreats, memberships, workshops, or content—does not establish a therapist-client relationship.
You are responsible for seeking professional medical or mental health support as needed.
SECTION 8 – LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Forced Joy Project shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services.
Your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.
SECTION 9 – INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Forced Joy Project from any claims arising from your participation, use of Services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.
SECTION 10 – GOVERNING LAW
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States.
SECTION 11 – CHANGES TO TERMS
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.
